Description: Simple or branched plant with an ascending, trailing or downwards hanging, up to 1 metre long, 15 cm thick stem; dense rosettes of numerous, erected or spreading, glaucous to dull green leaves; yellowish-orange, long-toothed margins; 60-90 cm high, usually simple, densely flowered inflorescence with red and yellow coloured raceme. - The Latin name "mutabilis" for "changeable" refers to the flowers which change colour from red buds to yellow perianths as they open.
