Description: Stemless, solitary or occasionally small groups forming plant; up to 30, erected, incurved, compact and spherical rosettes forming, lanceolate-acuminate, greyish-green to reddish-green leaves with a pungent thorn at the tip of the leaves, on the backs of the leaves 1-2 rows of red-brown spines midway from the base to the top; pungent reddish-tipped toothed margins; up to 40 cm tall, simple, deep purple inflorescence. - Endangered species
