Habitat: Grows in arid areas with 100-200 mm rainfall per annum, tolerates temperatures exceeding 40 degrees in summer and freezing temperatures during winter time
Life form: Woody succulent
Description: Stemless plant or with short creeping stems, forming rings of up to 50 rosettes around an empty space, up to 40 erected, pale glaucous, thick, brown-toothed leaves; 50 cm long almost horizontal inflorescenes, initially red, then turning to yellow or ivory, simple or up to 4 branches. The Afrikaans name "kraal aloe" means "creeping aloe" due to the striking feature of the nearly horizontal growing inflorescence.
