Description: In nature tree up to 45 m tall, with trunk to 1.5 m in diameter. Bark light gray. Branchlets densely hairy. Buds 3.5-4 mm longl. Needles arranged to the sides and above the twigs, 1.5-3 cm long, dark green, plumb in corss secion. Male cones around 2 cm long, greenish-yellow. Mature female cones roughly cyllindrical, 10-20 cm long. Young cones green or purple tinged, reddish-brown when mature. Cotyledons mostly fine.
